S03 Ep 01: Family Of Slaves (Main Story)
Timeline: Mission 1 S3 -Day 15
- Bridge -
After their encounter at the Galen IV system and rescuing the captives of a doomed transport which Aldana's Away mission was successful in rescuing the captives which were returned to the Tomcat for medical and mental treatment for what they went through in the ordeal, the ship recovers all her fighters and jumps to warp, it was an uneventful trip for the moment, but the moment the ship neared its next destination and dropped from high warp, in the distance ships could be detected.
Now some day's later the ship arrives on the outskirts of the Cravallian system where they spot Orion slave ships, there were no transports among them only cruisers, frigates and fighters.
“YELLOW ALERT” Somers ordered “all stations report?” Somers said.
Cody took over the watch from the Ensign as they approached the end of their warp. He has just finished an after-action report with his Master at Arms.
Watching the sensors he began the long range scan as the ship’s speed decreased. “Captain we have multiple ships at the end of sensor range,” Cody said as he boosted the power to the sensors. The terminal flashed red as he pushed the sensors to the limit. He knew he’d hear from Taggert later if he overloaded the sensor array and damaged the console.
“The ships appear to be different classes, I think they may be Orion pirates Captain,” Cody said speculatively.
“Helm move us within a light second of that convoy full impulse power. Security prepare for a tactical scan once we are within range,” Maia ordered.
Lamia’s fingers traced lightly over the Operations console. “Commander I’ve pulled some extra power and rerouted it to sensors, it should give you a better idea of what you’re looking at.” She turned to look at the viewscreen, she liked to see for herself what was on the view instead of interpreting from a readout. That and the fact that her own senses worked best when she had a line of sight, not that it was a necessity.
“Thank you, Lamia,” Maia replied.
“Commander Sterling send word to fight launch bay to go to high alert and prep for quick launch,” Somers ordered.
“Aye Captain,” Maia replied.
=/\=Bridge to flight control, we are going to condition Alert One, All pilots to their fighters. This is no drill, repeat, we are going to condition alert one, all pilots to their fighters. This is no drill. Acknowledge! =/\= Maia ordered.
Maia pressed the Alert One button on her console. The pilot’s alarm sounded.
“Medical is good and ready for anything needed,” Cahill mentioned.
“Excellent, okay all be ready for the unexpected” Somers said sitting back down in her seat and pressed the communications button on her chair arm.
- Fighter bay -
“All pilots to their fighters. We are on alert status,” Serena said as her bodyguard followed her from her quarters to the fighter bay. Putting on her flight suit on the move was a common place for her as she had done it on more than one occasion. Watching her pilots hustle to their fighters she smiled at how quickly and smoothly they did their jobs. Sliding into her fighter, she looked at Mandy and nodded. As her people gave her mic clicks acknowledging their readiness, she sent a communication to the bridge. =/\= Bridge, Raider One, all fighters on standby status ready to fly on your orders, Serena out. =/\=
=/\= Acknowledge Raider One, Red and Rebel are on standby, be ready to launch at a moment’s notice, Somers out, =/\= she said and signed off.

=/\= Bridge, Raider One, all fighters on standby status ready to fly on your orders.=/\=
Back on the bridge Jasmine sits back down and allows Sterling to run things for a bit, she had been quiet of late, but she figured Maia needed to stretch her command muscles for a bit.
Maia acknowledged the report.
“Captain, pilots are posted. Ready to launch on your order.” Maia replied.
“Excellent Commander, now let us see what surprises the hostiles have for us this day.
“Medical is ready and standing by Captain. Cargo Bay Three is ready and standing by for the refugees. We have food and sleeping areas for any we find” Cahill said.
*looks back at Cahill* “excellent, good one Commander, let me know when the Away Team has the captives on the shuttles” Somers said.
Doctor Cahill opened a channel to monitor the PA team it made her feel better at least listening. She also kept up on injuries to the crew on the USS Tomcat
Maia checked her sensors.
“Captain I am scanning 25 small three-man attack craft on an intercept course with us. They are shielded and armed.” Maia said more calmly than she felt.
“Launch Raider Squadron and Rebels, put Red Squadron on high alert” Somers instructed as the enemy ships closed the distance “RED ALERT” she shouted and the lights went from yellow to Red.
Cahill moves to a position where she could monitor the attack and help with Command if needed. She tapped her communicator with her hand. “All medical Sections report to their duty stations. Prepare for attack and casualties.”
She monitored the situation and was going over ideas if her knowledge was needed.
- Engineering -
The engines were thrumming as the ship was travelling at warp, and Nicci smiled as she knew she kept the ship running like a well-oiled machine while the Chief Engineer was out on the mission. She took a moment of pride, watching the warp reactor’s magnetic construction coils flash with power and sending it outward to the engines, standing there smiling, arms crossed under her chest admiring her work.
“Okay, let’s get started on…” she began as she felt and heard the deceleration out of warp, and she began wondering what was going on now. Then the yellow alert siren flashed as did the consoles and warning lights. oO And here I thought I was going to get some shuttle maintenance done before day’s end.Oo
“Oh hell,” she said under her breath. She jogged over to the pool table of the main engineering and monitored the defence fields as they raised in response to the captain’s command.
“Pril, Machado, make sure weapons are ready if needed but don’t charge them,” Nicci called out.
“Ma’am, we’ll take care of the weapons and they will be ready when needed,” Machado responded and set to work to ready the weapons systems and input a new sub-routine that would help the re-charge power sequence to make the weapons ready quicker if needed in a heavy fight.
“Perfect, thanks,” Nicci nodded as the two got to work. She turned to the two other officers who’d come up quickly when the alert siren had gone off.
“Mr Bowen, Ensign Tjaansz,” she turned to the warrant officer and the commissioned ensign, “make sure sensors have enough power to let us figure out what the heck is out there in front or around us.”
“You got it,” Teela said with a smile, as she and WO2 Bowen moved over to the monitors circling the warp core.
oO While I do like computers, Oo Nicci thought to herself as she got to work, oO I wouldn’t want to completely trust my life and my ship to them. I’m glad we have some good people here to keep things in ship-shape. Oo
